01 · The finding

Longevity has become a promise. Almost no one measures it.

More and more hotels put longevity forward. Very few can say what they measure, which equipment contributes to it, and what it earns per room. Meanwhile, a small group of advanced guests, few in number but mobile and demanding, is already optimising their homes: light, air, sleep, strength, recovery. They choose their hotel on these criteria, and find nowhere what they have at home. The IO8 audit measures this gap and shows how to close it.

Hotels with a strong wellness component earn 67% more revenue per occupied room ($561 vs $335).

03 · The method

Ten sub-objectives, two levels

We assess a venue on ten sub-objectives, each at two levels. The minimum acceptable baseline: what every room must offer. The optimised baseline: the longevity room, same size, better equipped, sold at a higher rate. Each recommendation carries its cost, its target gain and its payback period.

For each sub-objective: an acceptable minimum, an optimised level, a level of evidence, a financial module.

04 · The longevity room

The longevity room: measured, not promised

A longevity room is not described with adjectives but with readings: CO₂ at night, noise, evening and morning light, temperature, water. The hotel measures its environment and displays it. Guests who wish to can measure themselves and leave with their own figures; the hotel keeps none of them. A set of devices selected and tested at the Living Lab can be made available in any room, for a supplement per night.

The devices

Sleep, light, stimulation and recovery devices, selected and tested at the Living Lab, under the IO8 brand or under your hotel's brand. Catalogue price from €750 per device, delivered with its procedure sheet, its hygiene kit and its replacement; volume pricing from ten units, on quotation. Offered to guests in any room for a supplement of €50 a night, a device pays for itself in about fifteen nights at catalogue price, in under ten at volume pricing. Beyond that, it is margin, and the device stays at the hotel. Lent against a card pre-authorisation, like a bicycle.

05 · The longevity menu

The longevity menu

Your spa has a massage menu. Tomorrow, it also has a longevity menu: about ten services bookable by the hour, in an existing treatment room, run by your trained therapists and by IO8-listed practitioners. Full-body red light, breathing and heart rate variability, metabolic test and biological age, body composition and movement assessment, sleep consultation, nutrition consultation, supervised heat and cold, compression, neurofeedback, guided strength. From €60 to €150 a session, each service with its level of evidence displayed. The menu fills empty treatment rooms; it does not replace massages.

Your spa moves from cost centre to revenue centre, without building work.

06 · What exists nowhere else

What exists nowhere else

We reviewed hotels, biohacking venues and existing standards (October 2026). Here is what no one does yet.

  • Publishing the readings of its rooms as commercial proof.
  • Lending a set of devices in any room, for a supplement per night, with hygiene and breakage written down.
  • Installing red light and a strength station in the room.
  • Offering a longevity service menu with displayed prices, and the level of evidence for each service.
  • Auditing a venue on its ability to measure.
  • In Portugal: no venue does any of these five.

The truly instrumented room exists in New York, in four rooms, at $1,700 a night. We make it possible in a four-star hotel.

07 · Formats

Two formats, one method

Group pricing, published in advance, for both formats: 2 to 4 venues −10%, 5 to 9 venues −20%, 10 venues or more −30%. The pilot is at the standard rate and counts towards the tier.

08 · What it earns

What it earns, three lines

Margin

The room supplement for the longevity room, the devices lent, the menu sessions, carried by your regular guests.

Capture

The longevity segment, small in number but mobile and high-spending, chooses the hotel that has what the others do not.

Direct bookings

The longevity room and the devices are products booked with you, where no platform takes a commission.

The report costs all three, month by month, with your seasonality.

09 · Sample report

A sample report

This is what you receive. Sixteen pages, ten scored sub-objectives, each recommendation with its cost, its target gain and its payback period, a month-by-month financial module, a deployment plan. The report shown is a sample report on a fictional hotel; we never show an audited venue without its consent.

10 · Method and independence

Method and independence

  • A multi-brand comparison, function by function.
  • IO8 tests the devices at the Living Lab and may represent some of the brands it recommends; these links are declared in the report.
  • The report belongs to the venue, usable with or without IO8.
  • No measurement is taken on guests or staff during the audit.
  • The right to display Audited by IO8.
  • The comparison criteria are published in advance: accuracy, real-world use, cost, footprint, service.
  • The devices are tested at the IO8 Living Lab near Lisbon, with our Experts in Residence.

The Living Lab equips itself in waves; part of the equipment is being delivered. We say so because we measure before we promise.

11 · Come and see before you sign

Come and see before you sign

The Living Lab is twenty minutes from Lisbon. For venues in Portugal, the visit takes place before any signature: you see the devices, the readings, and the person who will come to your venue. And to start without commitment: a private measurement for the director, at the Living Lab or at your venue with the case, then, if they want to go further, a measurement for volunteers from their team. A team that has lived the measurement knows what it is selling to your guests.
